Planning for the future of Friendship Commons.
WELCOME TO FRIENDSHIP COMMONS
Friendship Commons Community Update
As we continue to prepare for the demolition at 5260 Western Avenue this summer, we wanted to provide an overview of the comprehensive plan and safety protocols that are in place to ensure the health of nearby residents, pedestrians, and workers throughout every phase of this work. GEICO has entered into an agreement to sell the property to EYA, which will lead the redevelopment of the site.
With a strong track record of creating walkable, urban communities in Montgomery County, EYA brings deep expertise to the project and has already begun sharing its vision for Phase 1 of the redevelopment with the community.

FOREST CONSERVATION PLAN APPLICATION
Preparing the Site for Future Redevelopment
A Forest Conservation Plan (FCP) has been filed with Montgomery County and is necessary for the demolition of the existing building to proceed. The demolition of the existing building will help prepare the site for future redevelopment. Residents may notice signs along the property directing passersby to the County’s website for more information or you can click here to review the application.
